James R. LeMay

Jim LeMay advises and consults broadcast executives and journalists around the world. He is currently a Senior Consultant for Frank N. Magid and Associates. His clients include Cox Media Group, Meredith Corporation, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Gray Communications and the NBC O & O group. In addition, Jim works with businesses and media platforms in emerging countries at the invitation of the U.S. State Department. He served as Deputy Managing Editor at CNN for 10 years and ran the CNN Newsource D.C. Bureau prior to that. His work included coverage of every major national and international story during that time.
At CNN, Jim was instrumental in building and maintaining the network’s multifaceted, multiplatform approach to news coverage. He was one of CNN’s go-to people when they were looking for insight into all forms of media. He continues to work with CNN International as a part of their Fellowship Program and provides insights and training to professional journalists all over the globe.
Previously, Jim was Vice President of News at WJLA in D.C., Vice President of News at WEWS in Cleveland. Jim has been awarded numerous journalist awards including Emmys for investigative reporting, and Peabody, duPont-Columbia and Edward R. Murrow awards. He appeared on Oprah as an innovator in news and Nightline as a leader in news coverage.
In addition, Jim developed investigative units in Phoenix, Cleveland and Washington D.C.; is a frequent lecturer at the Naval War College, The Defense Video and Imagery System Group and The Command and Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas.
Jim is a previous member of the Piedmont College Board of Directors in North Georgia and served as a member of their Academic Committee. In addition, he held Board positions with ABC News Affiliate Board and the National Red Cross, Washington, D.C.
Jim is also a strong advocate for military families serving his country at home and abroad. Jim and his wife Cynthia have worked to raise funds for post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries for American servicemen and women. Jim comes from a military family having graduated from Fishburne Military School, New Mexico Military Institute. He then received his B.A. in Journalism from Eastern New Mexico University. He currently serves in a special unit of the Georgia Army National Guard.
