Maya Mateshvili

Maya Mateshvili is a U.S.-educated professional with over 20 years of international work experience. In her current capacity as the Press and Information/Stratcom Officer at the European Union (EU) Delegation in Tbilisi, Georgia, Maya monitors and reports on disinformation narratives and works closely with her Brussels-based colleagues at the European External Action Service (EEAS), East Stratcom Task Force (ESTF) and its flagship project EUvsDisinformation as well as stratcom officers at EU Delegations across the Eastern Partnership (EaP) region. Additionally, she plans, implements, oversees and promotes multi-faceted efforts aimed at countering mis- and disinformation. This is done by building societal resilience, using whole-of-society approach, supporting media literacy and fact-checking skills of vulnerable groups and key multipliers, building capacity of key local stakeholders including fact-checkers, civil society organizations and media, and filling the information space with credible information amplified by trustworthy sources.
