How to Write Investigative Stories
10 a.m.: Investigative journalism is the systematic, indepth research and reporting using public records and data, focusing on social justice and accountability. Students and early career investigative journalists will learn some of the skills and tools necessary for diving into investigations, including story structure, storytelling, visual elements and other techniques to write investigations that readers will understand, even when the subject matter is very complicated.

Portfolio Review
10:30 a.m.: The 2023 EVN Media Festival portfolio review in collaboration with Mirzoyan Library Foundation will bring together aspiring and early-career photographers with seasoned photojournalists from Armenia and abroad. The one-on-one sessions will help photographers articulate their voice and curate their visual language and will offer professional advice to help launch or further develop their career.

To qualify for the portfolio review, you must submit a primary portfolio of 30 images (no larger than 2000 pixels on the long side) that you feel represent your work for initial review by May 22, 2023 to [email protected].
If you are selected, you will be notified by May 25, and invited to take part in the portfolio review.
In your application (see link below), please mention the name of the four reviewers of your choice; you will be assigned to three of them for 20-minute consultations with each.
On the day of the review, you will be required to bring up to three photo series or photo stories or 20 single images (of your choice and format). Please build the right order (sequence!!!) of images of the stories and series that you will present in your portfolio for reviewers. We ask that you bring prints of your portfolio to ensure the review process is more effective (there are no print size and quality specifications). Having digital versions of your other work for reference is encouraged.
